Under the general direction of the Dental Director, the Dentist will diagnose dental disease or injury, establish treatment plans, and perform fillings, extractions, and related procedures. The Dentist will also provide clinical supervision to Dental Assistant(s) and Dental Hygienist(s) assigned to their team.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnose dental disease or injury and establish treatment plans.
- Perform fillings, extractions, and related procedures.
- Provide clinical supervision to Dental Assistant(s) and Dental Hygienist(s).
- Participate in dental team meetings and general health center staff meetings.
- Assist in reviewing Dental Clinic productivity and scheduling procedures.
- Consult with other Dentists and health care providers as needed.
- Refer patients for specialty care as appropriate.
- Participate in interviews and make recommendations for hiring staff, counseling employees, and ensuring quality of care.
- Remain current on new theories and procedures through continuing education.
- May participate in planning and implementation of community dental programs.
- D.D.S. or D.M.D. from an accredited school of dentistry.
- Two to three years of practice in dentistry and/or in areas such as a community dentistry program.
- License to practice as a dentist in Michigan.
- Ability to perform simple functions on the computer and to search and document in the electronic medical and dental records.
