Purpose of a lifeguard is to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) takes over.
Responsibilities
- Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe environment, ensuring the safety of staff, members and guests in the pool area.
- They maintain a safe environment at all times, keeping the pool deck dry, clean, and clear of obstacles.
- Lifeguards perform water tests on pools and spas at specified times and report any problems to their supervisor or building manager immediately.
Additional Duties
- Lifeguards perform other duties as assigned.
- They comply with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Lifeguards must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Equivalent / GED (Preferred)
- Previous lifeguard experience (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of pool filtration systems (Preferred proficiency)
