The Department of Forestry & Fire Protection is seeking a highly skilled Forester II to join our team. As a Forester II, you will play a critical role in the management and protection of California's natural resources.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct forest surveys and assessments to identify areas of high risk and develop strategies for mitigation.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to develop and implement forest management plans.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to landowners and stakeholders on forest management practices.
- Participate in wildland fire prevention and suppression efforts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities and stakeholders to promote forest health and sustainability.
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in forestry or a related field.
- Registered Professional Forester (RPF) license.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The Forester II will work in a variety of settings, including forests, woodlands, and urban areas. The position requires the ability to work in a physically demanding environment and to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
