Position Overview

SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS (compensation varies based on majority of hours worked)

  • Evening Shift (3pm – 11:30pm) = 8%
  • Night Shift (11:00pm – 7:30am) = 11%
  • No Weekend Differential

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer respiratory care (standard/routine) to patients across all age groups, from infants to adults, as prescribed.
  • Clarify the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients.
  • Receive and review assignments.
  • Examine patient charts and physician's directives.
  • Prepare equipment and medications, and deliver treatments as prescribed, including oxygen therapy, humidity treatment, airway management, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, postural drainage, respiratory monitoring, intermittent positive pressure breathing, aerosol therapy, and pharmacological respiratory therapy.
  • Document treatment, patient responses, and progress.
  • Oversee environmental control systems, deliver and set up equipment, and monitor patients on continuous ventilation.
  • Perform nasotracheal and tracheal (endotracheal tube or tracheostomy) suctioning.
  • Conduct regular patient rounds. Observe patients, check equipment, and make necessary adjustments. Troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Cease therapy as directed. Remove equipment from patient areas, disassemble, and clean as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Permanent licensure by the Idaho State Board of Medicine as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)
  • Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an adult critical care environment within the last 5 years
  • ICU experience within the last 3 years
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - to be completed within three (3) months of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - to be completed within three (3) months of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - to be completed within one (1) year of hire
