Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Substance Abuse Counselor II is responsible for providing individual, group, and family counseling services, conducting clinical evaluations for both new and existing clients, and demonstrating expertise in therapeutic interventions and evidence-based methodologies. Additionally, this role requires maintaining effective communication with the treatment team to ensure comprehensive care for all patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver counseling, treatment planning, and triage services
  • Facilitate family counseling sessions
  • Provide clinical services to assigned clients and engage in team discussions
  • Ensure documentation is timely and accurate
  • Communicate efficiently with other departments
  • Comply with state and facility regulations
  • Uphold patient and organizational confidentiality
  • Adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 standards
  • Assist in managing the patient community

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Behavioral Sciences (social work, counseling, or psychology)
  • Progressing towards licensure/certification in substance abuse treatment
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral healthcare
  • Experience in substance abuse, addiction treatment, mental health, and cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Proficient in electronic health records and ASAM criteria
  • Ability to work with adult clients and psychotropic medications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Physical Requirements
