About the Role:

The Disaster Response Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the Planning and Resilience Bureau's mission to prepare the city for emergencies. This position requires a strong understanding of emergency management principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of community-based risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to promote preparedness and resilience.
  • Represent NYCEM at community events, providing information and resources on disaster response and recovery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders and government officials.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in emergency management, fire service, police service, or military service, or a related field is required. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college is also required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with community stakeholders and developing risk mitigation strategies.

Salary and Benefits:

The City of New York offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
