Backend Software Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and maintaining software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs. You will develop and maintain code while integrating software components into a cohesive software system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Formulate software verification plans, create test procedures, and establish test environments, executing these procedures and documenting results to ensure compliance with software system requirements.
- Oversee software project management and supplier management functions.
- Develop, select, tailor, and implement software processes, tools, and metrics.
- Conduct and document software research and development projects.
- Act as a subject matter expert in software domains, addressing system-specific issues, processes, and regulations.
- Monitor and assess software team and supplier performance to ensure adherence to project plans and industry standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, PHP, C#, and Java.
- Familiarity with developer tools including git, linting tools, IDEs, Linux, AWS infrastructure, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of relational databases and their principles, including ACID, CAP, transactions, and the n+1 problem.
- Knowledge of API development and the abstraction of core business logic from external-facing entities and frameworks.
- Experience with test-driven development, including unit testing, integration testing, and functional tests.
- Familiarity with design patterns such as MVC, SOLID, and layered architecture.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of architectural patterns including Monolithic, Microservices, and Serverless.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design principles: inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, and encapsulation.
- Experience with back-end technologies: Nginx, ASGI, WSGI, relational databases, and API server development.
- Ability to create UML documentation for traceability from design to implementation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools for software application deployment.
- Strong communication skills.
EDUCATION:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, along with typically 5 or more years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
WORK HOURS:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
