American Energy Storage Innovations, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Hudson, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the system architecture, specification, design, development, and testing for both energy storage and mobility applications. This role requires an overall system perspective and detailed design experience with cross-functional input.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the definition and development of system architectures for next-generation ESS and mobility products.
  • Serve as the technical lead for electrical subsystems on complex development projects with ownership of subsystem designs down to the board level.
  • Develop and implement subsystem designs, directing development activities as needed to drive their completion.
  • Collaborate with other team members to define the technology roadmap for current and future products.
  • Identify product requirements to create novel system architectures to meet those requirements.
  • Develop detailed product and subsystem specifications based on product requirements for system-level design, operation, and controls.
  • Lead regulatory compliance testing and validation.
  • Lead proper system documentation, including system theory of operation, validation test documentation, etc.
  • Create test engineering and validation plans to ensure proper implementation.
  • Lead system integration and validation test activities for engineering development, establishing test methods and verification tools.
  • Support prototype system builds to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Develop organizational due diligence to ensure proper design best practices.
  • Lead root cause and failure analysis for overall system performance.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in electrical system design or ten (10) years with demonstrated experience developing a product from concept through production on a multidiscipline project with complex systems.
  • Intimate knowledge and experience with the product design process, validation testing, and documentation.
  • Expertise in electrical design best practices, including circuit design, component selection, circuit protections, and PCB layout.
  • Proficient reading schematics and using electrical hardware design tools for analysis, simulation, engineering calculations, etc.
  • Comfortable in a small organization with limited resources.
  • Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, as well as effectively communicating with suppliers.
  • Demonstrated competence in methodical and effective troubleshooting.
  • Experience with industry test certifications and regulatory compliance.
  • Experienced with the handling of high voltage lithium-ion battery systems.

  • Microsoft office suite.

  • Energy storage experience is preferred.
  • Design experience above 1500V is preferred.
