Our interdenominational camp and retreat centers operate year-round, dedicated to glorifying God and sharing a clear message of faith. Our locations span from the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts to the Sequoia National Forest and the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California.

POSITION TITLE: Autumn Service Crew Member

DEPARTMENT: Food Services, Concessions, Activities & Support Services

REPORTS TO: Human Resources

FLSA STATUS: Seasonal Hourly

BENEFITS: Bi-weekly compensation (excluding room and board)

NOTES: 6 Openings; Must be at least 18 years old by the start of Staff Orientation

We encourage our staff to engage in camp activities and participate in the chapels we offer during their free time.

Position Summary:

The Autumn Service Crew is dedicated to promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ through various tasks around the camp. Members of the service crew must exhibit flexibility and a willingness to serve in diverse roles as needed. This position requires an individual who is comfortable assisting wherever the need arises.

Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Demonstrate respect towards campers, guests, colleagues, and oneself.
  • Act as a positive role model, showcasing enthusiasm and a constructive attitude.
  • Be a witness for Jesus Christ through words and actions, sharing His love with the public, campers, and fellow staff.

Specific Duties:

  1. Collaborate effectively with fellow crew members and work as a cohesive team.
  2. Accept and fulfill assigned tasks and responsibilities diligently.
  3. View oneself as a vital contributor to Hume Lake Christian Camps, adhering to the camp's philosophy, methods, leadership, and duties.
  4. Seek guidance from the Dean of Men/Women, RDs, or Department Supervisor when faced with challenges that require assistance.
  5. Take responsibility for notifying the Dean of Men/Women in case of absence, maintain appropriate attire, and uphold professional conduct.
  6. Engage in regular communication with the Dean of Men/Women and participate in group activities, Bible studies, and church services.

Qualifications & Requirements:

General:

  • Complete staff training, which lasts between 6-12 days.
  • Availability to be on-site during camp programs.
  • Possess a genuine love for the Lord and a desire to help campers grow in their faith.
  • Agreement with the theological beliefs, philosophy, and policies of Hume Lake Christian Camps.
  • Able to embody the purpose and core values of Hume Lake Christian Camps.
  • Maintain positive formal and informal performance evaluations.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Living on-site during camp sessions is mandatory. Experience working with diverse youth and adults, both independently and as part of a team, is essential.
  • Physical demands include bending, lifting, sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, walking, running, and potentially swimming. Adequate hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and normal eyesight and hearing are necessary for effective communication and operation of camp equipment. Staff may be exposed to varying weather conditions and irregular hours typical of a camp environment. Ability to lift 25-50 pounds is required.
