Position OverviewThe Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee various aspects of pharmacy management, which may encompass operational oversight or clinical service delivery.
This role is responsible for managing, implementing, and coordinating comprehensive pharmacy operations and/or clinical pharmacy service initiatives that align with the overall departmental strategy, integrating best practices to enhance patient safety and optimize outcomes, thereby delivering the highest value care to our patients and the organization.
The position entails managing personnel and budgetary resources to ensure the effective delivery of pharmacy services. The role guarantees compliance with all quality, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.Promoting excellence is paramount, as the position aligns with departmental and organizational objectives while upholding the mission, philosophy, and strategic vision of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
Certifications:
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Five (5) years of pharmacy experience required OR completion of PGY1/PGY2 residency in Pharmacy Administration.
Proficient in pharmacy and hospital computer systems, as well as computer-assisted devices, with familiarity in the healthcare reimbursement landscape.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with others.
Experience in quality improvement, financial management, strategic planning, project management, and team development skills.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage all departmental staff activities, including the recruitment and training of new personnel. Ensure that staff competencies are evaluated and provide opportunities for ongoing training and education as necessary.
Assess pharmacy services and patient outcomes, developing or updating services and resources to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and accreditation standards, maintaining appropriate records, documentation, and reporting requirements.
Oversee the pharmacy's continuous accreditation and regulatory compliance through assessment, gap analysis, action plan development, and collaboration with key stakeholders for the implementation of corrective actions.
Provide oversight, development, and implementation of clinical and quality pharmacy services and programs.
Responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining a process to address and monitor complaints and adverse events.
Develop and maintain systems for documentation, assessment protocols, and presentation of clinical interventions based on feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA/HITECH, ensuring safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
Encourage individual professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals that contribute to the organization's success; serve as a mentor and resource for learners and pharmacy staff.
