CNC Machinist Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Steven Douglas Corp (SDC). As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and programming CNC machines to manufacture precision parts and components according to engineering drawings and 3D models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, and operate CNC mills and lathes with minimal supervision.
- Interpret and apply technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to create or modify CNC programs.
- Perform CNC machine setup, including installing tooling, fixtures, and materials, and calibrating machines for proper alignment and settings.
- Write and modify programs for increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Translate instructions into a CAM program, with a preference for MasterCam.
- Reduce setup time and machining through process improvements.
- Check completed programs by running simulations or tests.
- Have a working knowledge of Solidworks and prepare geometric layouts of designs.
- Monitor and manage programs to ensure they follow blueprint instructions.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on CNC machines for smooth and safe operation.
- Comply with all company safety guidelines, including wearing PPE and following safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a CNC lathe and mill machinist.
- Technical degree or certification in CNC machining is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Expert knowledge of machining qualities, properties, and uses of various raw materials.
- Ability to participate and coordinate with engineers and project teams.
- Experience with Haas automation equipment.
- Experience programming with MasterCam software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Setup and operation of manual Knee Mills, Lathes, and Grinders preferred.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift and move objects over 50 pounds.
