As a Registered Nurse Non-Acute, you will play a vital role in delivering care to a designated patient population, aiming for optimal health outcomes. This position emphasizes the enhancement of your clinical skills and knowledge while working as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage complex patient needs. You will also oversee the care provided by other healthcare professionals through effective delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
A typical day for a Registered Nurse Non-Acute at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
Assessment:
- Gathering comprehensive data relevant to the patient's health status.
- Conducting age and disease-specific assessments independently and systematically.
- Identifying changes in clinical and diagnostic status.
- Recognizing educational needs of patients and families based on various factors.
Planning:
- Creating a care plan that outlines strategies and interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Setting patient-centered goals based on assessment findings.
- Coordinating a comprehensive care plan that prioritizes patient and family needs.
Implementation:
- Communicating and executing the care plan effectively.
- Maintaining ongoing communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding care and treatment.
- Delivering age and disease-specific care in a timely manner.
- Providing or coordinating education for patients and families to ensure understanding.
- Documenting patient care and treatment accurately and continuously.
- Administering medications using advanced safety technologies.
- Facilitating safe patient transitions and discharges.
Evaluation:
- Assessing progress towards achieving care outcomes.
- Utilizing critical thinking to adapt interventions based on patient responses.
- Addressing any changes in patient condition promptly.
Additional Responsibilities:

Qualifications
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Progress towards a BSN or commitment to obtain within three years of hire.
- A strong commitment to patient care, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- National certification in a specialty area when eligible.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Active NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
