Job Title: Department Chair for Communication Sciences and Disorders

Job Summary:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at East Carolina University seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Chair of the department. The successful candidate will provide administrative support and leadership for the department, communicating priorities, standards, and procedures effectively. The Chair will promote shared governance and academic freedom within the department and college, while articulating a vision for the department's future.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide oversight of department operations and budget, including clinical operations and budget
• Teach and conduct research and scholarship in the area of expertise
• Recruit, develop, and retain a competent, diverse, and representative faculty and staff
• Evaluate and recommend faculty for promotion/tenure and advancement in rank according to university policies
• Support faculty research, grant writing opportunities, and additional scholarly creative activities
• Participate in program development, reviewing processes, curricular changes, accreditation activities, and self-studies

Requirements:
• PhD from an appropriately accredited institution in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related field
• Eligibility for tenure with the rank of Associate or Full Professor within the academic unit code

Preferred Qualifications:
• Teaching and research interests in areas of language and literacy
• Expertise in speech, language, or hearing
• Record of leadership and faculty mentorship in the areas of research, teaching, and extramural funding
• Experience in program accreditation
• Experience in progressively responsible administrative and leadership positions related to teaching, clinic, and research and scholarship
