Purpose

The Laboratory System Quality Technologist will oversee the Total Quality Management (TQM) for the lab system, including Continued Quality Improvement, Quality Systems, and Quality Assurance. This role will work closely with the Administrative Director of Lab Services and the Lab Application & Quality Specialist to manage projects, determine goals, time frames, funding, procedures, and staffing requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report QA goals, objectives, and tasks
  • Understand Quality Management approaches, including Six Sigma and LEAN
  • Utilize LEAN tools to construct value stream workflows and formulate new ideas to improve production and operations
  • Responsible for entry, coordination, and surveillance of TQM improvement program data, follow-up responses to TQM indicators above threshold, and presentation of TQM educational programs to all lab staff
  • Maintain educational level in all areas of responsibility to accomplish goals
  • Responsible for document management, including development, review, and maintenance of written lab system documents, such as procedures and QA policies
  • Help develop and manage QC procedures, programs, and corrective action
  • Help develop QA scope to include values, customers, customer needs, lab service capabilities, and lab vision
  • Facilitate introduction to lab-specific TQM programs during New Employee Orientation for lab employees
  • Document lab employees' training and continuing education documentation, lab CLIA certifications, and other lab metrics
  • Process incoming patient reports and research overdue/missing results
  • Regularly assist lab supervisors and lab support team members with various data entry requests
  • Help prepare for meetings and quality assurance procedures
  • Document meeting minutes and action plans and distribute as needed
  • Help mitigate team conflict and communication problems surrounding projects
  • Prepare reports, such as quarterly lab dashboards and seasonal flu/epidemiology reports
  • Help monitor and maintain the databases in lab systems and ongoing database management
  • Help support LIS functions and database maintenance
  • Help support Lab Work Queue and assist in Charge entry
  • Help process incoming Lab Support inquiries, troubleshooting calls, and/or messages
  • Adhere to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Science-related field with accredited institution program
  • At least 5 years laboratory experience

Preferred:

  • Business courses or Business Foundation certificate
