Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Senior Cost Estimator to enhance our Los Angeles team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cost management and estimation throughout all phases of construction, particularly within the commercial, hospitality, interiors, and retail sectors.
Success in this role requires consulting experience, exceptional communication abilities, and comfort in client-facing situations.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and present comprehensive cost estimates and planning;
- Estimate costs at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels;
- Conduct feasibility studies utilizing parametric benchmark cost data;
- Perform benchmarking studies and analyze cost data for reporting;
- Oversee cost assurance for third-party estimates, including report writing and presentations;
- Manage all procurement aspects, including pre-qualification, bid analysis, and contract documentation;
- Engage in post-contract cost variance analysis and change control processes;
- Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness;
- Prepare and present monthly cost reports to clients;
- Contribute to value engineering and options analysis;
- Maintain communication with clients and consultants throughout all project stages;
- Lead cost management commissions as necessary, ensuring accountability;
- Identify opportunities for business development with existing clients;
- Propose improvements for cost estimating and management procedures;
- Provide leadership and training to junior estimators as needed;
- Demonstrate proficiency in various estimating formats, including Uniformat and CSI Masterformat.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CostX, and Bluebeam;
- Experienced with industry estimating databases and data sources such as RS Means and Trade Services.
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field;
- Proven experience as a Cost Manager on real estate projects is essential;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
- Self-motivated and results-oriented team player;
- Strong negotiation skills are required.
The salary range for this full-time position is $110K-$140K per year, determined by role and level, reflecting a commitment to fair compensation based on experience and qualifications.
