Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Retail Cashier for our Gift Shop who is enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service and thrives in a dynamic environment. As a cashier, your primary responsibility will be to efficiently manage customer transactions, ensuring accurate handling of cash and credit transactions while providing a pleasant shopping experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage sales, restock merchandise, and accurately price items in the gift shop.
  • Conduct inventory checks on a quarterly basis or as directed by management.
  • Receive and verify incoming stock, ensuring proper pricing and organization.
  • Operate the cash register, process payments, and reconcile daily sales.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, including dusting and arranging displays.
  • Exhibit a professional appearance and consistently deliver outstanding customer service, with an emphasis on upselling.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management on a daily basis.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and moving merchandise as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in cash handling and a strong commitment to customer service are essential.
  • Basic math skills and a background in hospitality are preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment are necessary.
  • Previous experience as a cashier is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work in an environment with potential exposure to smoke and elevated noise levels.
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events is required, including potential overtime.
