Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Charge Registered Nurse to join our General Surgical Unit at Mercy. As a Charge RN, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, leading a team of nurses, and ensuring the smooth operation of the unit.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to a diverse population of surgical patients, including those with abdominal, thoracic, and vascular conditions.
  • Lead a team of nurses in providing high-quality patient care, education, and support.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring patient needs are met and exceeded.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of unit policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with Mercy's mission and values.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of bedside experience in a surgical or critical care setting.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of hire and compact licensure.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification and ACLS/BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
