Chief Custodial Supervisor

The Chief Custodial Supervisor oversees the comprehensive management and execution of essential cleaning services while providing guidance to the designated team. This role involves executing supervisory duties in alignment with Ahtna's policies and relevant regulations. Key responsibilities encompass employee training, work planning, task delegation, performance evaluation, and addressing any issues that arise. The supervisor is expected to uphold a cleanliness standard of 95% across all assigned responsibilities, which include maintaining hard and carpeted floors, trash disposal, and executing thorough dusting protocols. Proficiency in utilizing cleaning supplies, chemicals, vacuums, mops, and floor maintenance equipment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and evaluate the performance of custodial staff to ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Assist in delivering on-the-job training for cleaning personnel in a professional and effective manner.
- Conduct floor maintenance activities including sweeping, vacuuming, and deep cleaning as necessary.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
- Understand and apply correct dilution rates for cleaning agents.
- Adhere to all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prioritize safety in all decision-making processes.
- Comprehend and apply the information provided in Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all cleaning products used.
- Foster a respectful environment for all employees, clients, and vendors.
- Implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Report any personnel, quality, or safety concerns to the appropriate management personnel.
- Promote a culture of teamwork and effective communication among shifts.
- Utilize proper body mechanics during all tasks.
- Ensure adequate staffing by coordinating with on-call personnel as needed.
- Follow established health and safety standards.
- Attend required meetings and adhere to attendance policies.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Support management in various capacities as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
The Chief Custodial Supervisor provides leadership and direction to ensure that all cleaning activities meet the standards set forth by Ahtna.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is necessary.
- At least one year of experience in a custodial role or equivalent training is required.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance is mandatory.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is essential.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, tools, and safety precautions is required.
- Strong supervisory skills to effectively plan and motivate staff are necessary.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks and maintain schedules.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Experience in a collaborative team environment is preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule is necessary.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions is essential.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Familiarity with Alaska Native cultures is advantageous.
- Effective oral communication skills.
- Clear and concise written communication abilities.

- Time management skills to meet deadlines.
- This position involves moderate to heavy physical activity in various conditions, including frequent standing, walking, and lifting of heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).

This position typically requires a 40-hour work week, with hours and days determined by business needs. Overtime may be necessary.
