Iron Fabricator

Basden Steel is seeking a skilled Iron Fabricator to join our team. As an Iron Fabricator, you will be responsible for fabricating high-quality steel structures and parts under the standards set forth by Basden Steel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform wire-welding operations on structural and architectural steel members, including beams and columns.
• Test for acceptable weldments and ensure quality control.
• Use an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch to cut steel members.
• Monitor welding machines for problems and perform adjustments as required.
• Lay out material, paying attention to detail and measurements.
• Perform metal forming operations using saws, drills, tube benders, and punch machines.
• Communicate effectively with workers and other shop personnel.

Requirements:

• Able to perform non-precision wire welding in a structure steel fabrication shop at an acceptable rate and quality level.
• Must have an in-depth understanding of layout and all fabrication and processing operations in assigned work areas.
• Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and seek clarification on any possible errors and omissions.
• Able to operate an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch.
• Able to use jigs, hand tools, and measuring devices to produce quality weldments.
