Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Collections/Billing Clerk to join our team at Franklin County. As a key member of our revenue collection team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, collecting and processing tax payments, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service in person and over the phone, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Collect and process tax payments, including merchant, personal property, levee, and real estate taxes, and enter payments into our computer system.
  • Prepare and issue receipts, unpaid bills, and tax-free eligibility cards as needed.
  • Verify taxpayer information and update our database accordingly.
  • Issue merchant licenses and auctioneer licenses, and respond to inquiries from taxpayers, loan and title companies, and other outside agencies.
  • Open and sort mail, verify sender addresses, and process payments received.
  • Balance cash drawers daily, run credit reports, and document amounts in each drawer and compare to receipts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including ordering office supplies, scheduling equipment maintenance, and creating purchase orders for vendors.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of general accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Knowledge of Missouri State statutes, modern office practices, and accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and file systems.
Working Environment

This is a standard office environment role that requires sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
