Job Overview

Production Systems Automation is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead the development of custom control systems and drive the success of our industrial automation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of custom control systems, ensuring they meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives.
  • Technical Expertise: Compose protection and control equipment specifications, and provide technical guidance to team members on technical matters.
  • Customer Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for technical issues with customers, ensuring timely resolution and satisfaction.
  • Start-up and Commissioning: Develop and execute start-up, testing, and commissioning plans to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with team members, including principal engineers, control engineers, electrical designers, project managers, and engineering leaders, to achieve project goals.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to the controls scope for proposals, including writing and reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, and supporting sourcing for vendor quotations.
  • Design and Process Improvements: Identify and implement design and process improvements to enhance project efficiency and quality.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis and execute corrective actions to resolve technical issues.
  • Compliance and Quality: Ensure new machine or process designs comply with current specifications detailed in industry codes.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering Technology.
  • Experience: 5 or more years of prior industrial controls and automation experience on projects of various sizes and complexities.
  • Skills: Experience with PLC programming, knowledge of industry standards and codes, and ability to engineer design based on customer specifications.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead other engineers and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high-quality product on time and under budget.
  • Communication: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment and interface directly with customers and vendors.
