Position Purpose:
This role inherently involves providing excellent veterinary care to our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients and phenomenal customer care to their owners. The Veterinary Technician represents the mission and values to all clients and partners, setting the tone for the technical and customer support team in the hospital.

Essential Job Functions:
The incumbent must be able to perform the following duties with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments or walk-ins, obtaining vital signs and recording them in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia's.
  • Perform patient restraint, obtain laboratory samples, handle medications, and maintain the electronic medical record.
  • Schedule appointments, communicate with clients, relay test results, and manage accounts receivable.
  • Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, safely supporting induction and monitoring of anesthetized patients.
  • Provide in-hospital treatments, keeping patients clean and safe.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you must have:
  • A college or college-equivalent education as required for becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassion and sympathy, maintaining a professional attitude during emotional situations.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • A willingness to learn new techniques, offer creative ideas, and accept change.

Benefits:
Petco offers a competitive salary range of $22.25 - $35.75 per hour, plus benefits including health insurance, 401K, incentives, and paid time off.
