Job Summary

As a key member of the Marriott Ypsilanti At Eagle Crest team, the Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to plan and direct food preparation in our kitchens. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, with a focus on ensuring seamless kitchen operations and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement innovative menus that showcase our restaurant's vision and appeal to a diverse range of guests.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
  • Manage kitchen inventory and budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and execute special events, banquets, and catering services.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, adhering to Aimbridge Hospitality guidelines.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence in all aspects of kitchen operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2-4 years of experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, guests, and vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems, Company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing software.
