Transmission Line Engineer Job Description

M&S Engineering, LLC is seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to join our team in Spring Branch, Texas. This role will involve working on various high-voltage and extra-high-voltage AC and DC transmission line projects, with opportunities to work on renewable energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed engineering and design plans for overhead transmission line projects from conceptual design through construction, covering voltages from 4kV to 500kV.
  • Design and detail underground transmission line projects from 69kV to 230kV.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and opinion of probable cost statements for projects with limited details.
  • Develop construction and material specifications, as well as scope documents for construction tenders and contracts.
  • Collaborate with clients and contractors, coordinating with various disciplines and permitting agencies.
  • Take on project engineer and/or project manager roles as required.
Requirements:
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with 3-5 years of applicable post-graduation design experience.
  • Ability to inform design process based on previous experience with similar projects.
  • Strong proficiency in PLS software suite, Sag10, AutoCAD or Microstation, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and regulations required to design transmission lines in the United States, including publications from NESC, CPUC, ASCE, RUS, etc.
  • Ability to multitask across multiple projects.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs regularly.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines within a team environment.
  • Must be insurable and have a valid driver's license.
