Speech Instructor Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Speech Instructor to join our faculty team at Hutchinson Community College. The successful candidate will have a master's degree in speech communication or a related field and experience teaching public speaking and communication courses.

The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year, based on the 2024-2025 Hiring Salary Schedule in the local HutchCC Master Agreement. This full-time faculty position offers a nine-month annual contract, with 170 work days per contract period. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement curriculum for public speaking and communication courses.
  • Teach college-level courses in high school settings, including public speaking, communication theory, and interpersonal communication.
  • Evaluate student learning outcomes and track assessment data to improve instructional practices.
  • Participate in faculty development activities at the college and within state and regional organizations.
Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in speech communication or a related field.
  • Experience teaching public speaking and communication courses.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to teach via alternative delivery systems, including online and ITV.
