Vascular Access Nurse Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate RNs to join our dynamic healthcare team as Vascular Access Nurses. As a Vascular Access Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized care, with a focus on Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC lines).

Responsibilities:


  • Vascular Access Procedures:
    • Perform insertion, maintenance, and removal of PICC lines with precision and adherence to best practices.
    • Utilize ultrasound guidance for optimal catheter placement.
    • Monitor and assess the condition of vascular access sites, ensuring highest standards of care.
  • Infusion Therapy:
    • Administer and manage intravenous therapies, medications, and fluids as prescribed by healthcare providers.
    • Monitor patients during infusion therapy, assessing for any adverse reactions and taking appropriate actions.
  • Patient Education:
    • Educate patients and their families about the purpose, care, and maintenance of PICC lines and other vascular access devices.
    • Provide comprehensive instructions on infection prevention and self-care to ensure patient safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
    • Maintain clear and effective communication with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and seamless patient care.
  • Documentation:
    • Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and optimize vascular access procedures.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Current RN licensure in AR.
  • Certification in Vascular Access (VA-BC or similar) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a focus on vascular access and infusion therapy.
  • Proficient in ultrasound-guided PICC line insertion.
