Job Summary

This role involves overseeing and supervising detainees in Cook County's Correctional Institutions to ensure order, discipline, and safety. The position requires making rounds, communicating with detainees, and assisting with jail operations.

  • Conducts regular inspections to monitor detainee activity and reports any abnormal occurrences
  • Supervises detainee work assignments and ensures tasks are completed efficiently
  • De-escalates and controls disruptive behavior among detainees
  • Monitors detainee activities, including visits and interactions
  • Conducts searches for contraband and security breaches
  • Performs security checks and prepares detainees for transportation
  • Prepares and maintains accurate reports and logs
  • Utilizes two-way radio communication and assists in emergency situations
  • Attends roll calls, training sessions, and stays updated on institutional policies

Key Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess good judgment, knowledge of institutional policies, and the ability to supervise detainees. Familiarity with office software and a valid Driver's License are also required. Additionally, the candidate must be a U.S. Citizen, 20 years old, and have a high school diploma or G.E.D certification. A background check is also mandatory.
