Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Transportation Driver to join our team at Hampton City Schools. As an Auxiliary Driver, you will be responsible for transporting students to and from schools and other activities in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation Operations
    • Operate a van or similar vehicle to provide safe transportation for students.
    • Drive along designated routes, picking up and dropping off students as scheduled.
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    • Conduct pre-trip safety inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
    • Perform post-trip inspections to ensure all passengers have been dropped off and no personal belongings have been left behind.
  • Student Supervision
    • Supervise the conduct and behavior of student passengers to maintain discipline.
    • Contact school officials as necessary to discuss concerns regarding student conduct.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Ensure the vehicle is available for all scheduled maintenance and inspections.
    • Report any accidents immediately and complete necessary paperwork.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • American Red Cross first aid and CPR certification or an approved equivalent.
  • Driving Requirements
    • Virginia Driver's License.
    • Excellent driving record (at least +3 driving points).
  • Other Requirements
    • Minimum age of 21 at time of employment.
    • Successful completion of auxiliary driver and bus attendant training course (training provided).
