Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of software architects, researchers, and engineers to design and implement innovative interfaces for data discovery, transfer, and workflows, ensuring data provenance and integrity.
  • Assess the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
  • Enhance applications for optimal speed and scalability.
  • Develop and integrate interfaces with third-party software visualization tools, databases, and other systems.
  • Engage in design discussions, code reviews, and daily standup meetings.
  • Implement GUI user functions and components using modern web technologies.
  • Document applications and create user manuals.
  • Conduct user studies and troubleshoot issues.
Essential Qualifications:
  • M.S. degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with at least 7 years of professional experience; or a B.S. degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Proficient in client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, particularly jQuery.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), such as Drupal.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, such as SVN and GIT.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, including REST, HTTPS, and web sockets.
  • Understanding of web security principles.
  • Awareness of search engine optimization (SEO) techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and designers.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently and contribute creatively in collaborative environments.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced research setting, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt to evolving requirements.
