ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of Culinary Specialist, you will be tasked with preparing high-quality dishes in accordance with Sally's Apizza recipes and standards. A passion for culinary arts, strong cooking skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment are essential. You will be responsible for executing menu items from the Pizza Line and/or Hot Line.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing food items across various stations including Hot Line, Pizza Line, Garde Manger, and Dessert Station, following standardized recipes and menu guidelines.
  • Executing and presenting dishes from each station with a focus on aesthetics and portion control.
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment temperatures and cooking durations.
  • Plating and packaging dishes appropriately.
  • Creating dishes that meet our guests' expectations based on provided recipes and buildsheets.
  • Adhering to food handling and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Following all relevant food safety and health standards.
  • Assisting in maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment.
  • Keeping track of cleaning supply inventory and informing management when replenishment is necessary.
  • Helping with cleaning tasks in the kitchen and dining areas as required.
  • Maintaining an organized and tidy workspace.
  • Collaborating with fellow kitchen staff to ensure prompt and efficient service.
  • Communicating effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service, including cook times, inventory levels, and quality issues.
  • Completing all opening and closing tasks in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Language Skills

  • Proficient in English.
  • Basic Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Hands-on experience in preparing and baking pizza dough is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a line cook or in a comparable culinary position.
  • Strong understanding of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices.
  • Effective time-management abilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a pizza cook is preferred.
  • Proficiency in preparing and baking pizza dough is preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 5 hours).
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to stand, bend, lift, and move around the kitchen for prolonged periods, with the capability to frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team spirit with a focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Compensation ranges from $17 to $24, based on experience.
