Position Overview:

The Residential Support Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating daily interactions with individuals residing in shelter facilities. This position is essential for ensuring the effective operation of the facility during assigned shifts, prioritizing the safety and security of the environment, and conducting participant intakes in alignment with established program protocols. Collaboration with team members is vital for making informed decisions throughout the shift, adhering to program standards. This role serves as an excellent entry point into the human services sector, offering extensive training and opportunities for professional growth. The Residential Support Specialist fosters a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere for all individuals engaging with our shelter services through supportive interactions and respectful dialogue. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, and prior experience in a residential environment is advantageous. Both part-time and full-time roles are available. CPR certification is mandatory and will be provided by the organization. Additional certifications in AED and First Aid may also be required and will be supplied by the organization.

Available Shifts:
Weekends: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM, 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and security of residents and the facility.
  • Implement rules and regulations to maintain smooth operations.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, documenting incidents and communicating as per established protocols.
  • Conduct the intake process for new participants.
  • Provide support and structure, addressing resident concerns and issues.
  • Initiate crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required by program standards.
  • Participate actively in meetings and training sessions as requested.
  • Monitor security systems and cameras.
  • Communicate any concerns regarding resident behavior, health, and safety to appropriate personnel.
  • Manage site entry and telephone communications with professionalism.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of resident information in accordance with agency policies and legal requirements.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with residents.
  • Complete all shift-related tasks in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Conduct inspections as required by program standards.
