Job Title: Child Watch Caregiver

The City of Overland Park is seeking a part-time Child Watch Caregiver to join our team in the Parks and Recreation Services Department.

About the Role:

We are looking for a reliable and caring individual to oversee the safety and well-being of children while their parents participate in on-site recreation activities or classes at our Community Center. As a Child Watch Caregiver, you will be responsible for checking in children, collecting fees, performing light custodial duties, engaging and conducting activities with children, and maintaining a positive play atmosphere.

You will work primarily with children aged 1 year to 10 years old, with a focus on toddlers and preschool-age children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Check in and out children in a timely and efficient manner.
• Supervise children and enforce rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
• Plan and conduct engaging activities for children, promoting physical and emotional development.
• Operate software programs for all transactions, including fee collection and record-keeping.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Collect program fees and handle cash transactions accurately.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be successful as a Child Watch Caregiver, you should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as basic mathematical and accounting skills. You must also have the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

A minimum of 18 years of age and 1 year of experience in childcare or a related field are preferred, but not required.

Work Environment and Conditions:

This is a part-time position with variable hours, requiring flexibility and adaptability. You must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform other physical demands associated with working in a childcare setting.

You will be required to pass a background check, drug screen, physical exam, and essential functions test prior to hire.
