Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all OSHA and Ohio University required safety guidelines.
  • Provide work direction, training, and mentoring for lower-level air quality technicians engaged in the installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems.
  • Perform highly skilled installation, repair, and preventive maintenance on air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems, including reciprocating, centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers, absorption chillers, and dorm, dining, and laboratory refrigeration systems.
  • Inspect and test installed equipment for proper assembly of components, checking for any needed repairs and compliance with technical orders, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, specifications, and handbooks.
  • Install, repair, calibrate, and troubleshoot pneumatic, electric, and DDC controls, VAV systems, and read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, PID diagrams, and piping diagrams.
  • Perform inventory control, work scheduling, and complete necessary documentation using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Requirements
  • Journey-level working knowledge of air conditioning and heating technology.
  • Skill in installation and maintenance of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating equipment.
  • Proficient use of personal computer and Windows operating system.
  • Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems and work independently or with others.
  • Demonstrate willingness to work with diverse populations and dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand and/or power tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and Ohio University guidelines and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of employee mentoring, training, development, and inventory control.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • May be exposed to dirt, grease, odors, cramped conditions, extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and electrical hazards.
