Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for executing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs on production machinery to ensure peak operational efficiency. This role involves performing routine preventive maintenance tasks as designated, which encompasses the effective upkeep and repair of auxiliary equipment and plant facilities that function continuously.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of mechanical components on production machinery to ensure optimal performance. This includes the installation or replacement of various mechanical parts such as bearings, sprockets, chains, belts, seals, gaskets, and rollers.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of electrical systems/components on production machinery to maintain operational reliability. This includes replacing electrical motors, switches, sensors, timers, and repairing basic wiring and lighting fixtures.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and inspections on all plant equipment as assigned, while effectively communicating job status to relevant supervisors. Notify supervisors of repairs that necessitate advanced planning.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all repairs conducted on plant and facility equipment using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Adhere strictly to all plant safety protocols and work regulations.
  • Possess foundational knowledge of start-up, shutdown, and lockout/tag-out procedures for all equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Training or experience in electrical and mechanical systems within an industrial setting.

• Proficient in both electrical and mechanical aspects of plant maintenance.

• Basic computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.

• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Frequent standing and walking.

• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.

• Manual dexterity is essential.

• Capability to climb ladders and work at heights below 100 feet.

• Adequate vision, speech, and hearing abilities.

• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Manufacturing setting.

• Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, and noise levels that can vary from low to very loud.
