We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Specialist to join our team at The Episcopal Academy. As a key member of our Horizons program, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing literacy programs for students in grades K-5.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with our Leadership Team to set program goals, identify resources, and create schedules for the summer and school-year programs.
  • Support classroom teachers in designing and teaching high-quality, culturally responsive curriculum and engaging students in language arts throughout the six-week summer enrichment program.
  • Administer reading skills assessments and use data to inform instructional planning.
  • Provide individual and small group instruction to students to develop their literacy skills.
  • Train and advise volunteers and interns as needed to work with students as reading tutors or support small group instruction.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, challenging, and joyful learning environment.
Requirements
  • A strong commitment to Horizon's mission and a balance of knowledge of best practices and practical experience with literacy instruction.
  • Flexibility, well-organized, capable of taking initiative, and enthusiastic about teaching, learning, and working collaboratively with others.
  • Prior experience administering reading skills assessments and using data to determine effective instruction.
  • Elementary/middle school teaching experience, including planning, creating, and managing reading instruction; additional literacy teaching experience/training preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to understanding how systems impact families and communities.

**Salary:** $50,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
