POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist is responsible for the operation and upkeep of all X-Ray and hemodynamic apparatus within the Cath Lab. This role involves providing direct care to surgical patients, focusing primarily on the intra-operative phase, while also managing pre-operative assessments and post-operative evaluations, ensuring that age-specific requirements are met in the assessment, treatment, and care of patients. The technologist must possess extensive knowledge, critical thinking skills, and technical proficiency grounded in biological, psychological, and social sciences. Additionally, this position entails overseeing the general operations of the Cath Lab, including the management of necessary supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure precise documentation and billing processes. (EF)
  2. Utilize critical thinking to anticipate the needs of both patients and surgeons. (EF)
  3. Assist in training and orienting new staff members. (EF)
  4. Participate in on-call duties as assigned. (EF)
  5. Be cross-trained to monitor, circulate, scrub, and operate all Cath Lab machinery. (EF)

  6. Engage in safety management and infection control initiatives. (EF)
Organizational Standards:

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

Required: Graduate from an accredited Radiology program.

Experience:

Preferred: At least 1 year of experience as a licensed Radiologic Technologist.

Skills and Competencies:

Required: Successful completion of an approved ACLS course within one year of hire.

Preferred: 1 year of prior experience in a Cath Lab or Special Procedures setting is preferred.

Licensure and Certification:

Required: Current registration with the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and the TDH (Texas Department of Health).
