About the Role:
The Custodial Specialist position at Osawatomie State Hospital is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. This involves cleaning and sanitizing patient and non-patient areas, adhering to hospital policies and procedures related to infection control and proper cleaning techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize patient and non-patient areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment
- Follow hospital policies and procedures related to infection control and proper cleaning techniques
- Dispose of common, medical, and chemical waste products in accordance with hospital guidelines
- Respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques
- Observe and respond to residents in distress
Requirements:
- Physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance
- Ability to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service

Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders. The hospital is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
