Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist to join our team at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The successful candidate will serve as the Geospatial Coordinator, providing technical expertise and support for Enterprise Geospatial Engineering Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop GIS databases, layers, and dashboards to support Operations Division projects.
  • Provide guidance and hands-on support to offices for troubleshooting and resolving software or hardware problems.
  • Acquire and create GIS coverage, generate reports, and produce digital/hardcopy maps and digital raster collections.
  • Perform quality control review of products generated by others and maintain documentation.
  • Develop and implement Operations Division level policy and program guidance governing the implementation and management of Knowledge Management initiatives.
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the minimum education and/or specialized experience requirements. A Bachelor's degree in geography or a related field is required, with at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields. Alternatively, you may have a combination of education and experience that meets the requirements.

Specialized experience includes performing cartography using GIS software, creating, modifying, updating, and analyzing geographic objects and relational database data. You must also have experience supporting a multi-disciplinary team in the collection and compilation of information for upward GIS reporting.

Additional requirements include creativity and innovation, oral communication, problem-solving, and project management skills. You must also meet the time in grade requirement for the GS-12 level, which includes 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent.
