The Digital Modernization Sector brings together digital transformation and IT programs, enabling us to better serve our customers through scale and repeatability. We have a critical need for a Lead Penetration Tester to support the DHS CISA SOC.

CISA's mission is to support the Department's implementation of applicable regulatory requirements, including FISMA, OMB Circulars, Executive Orders, Federal laws, directives, policies, and regulations. The CISA ESOC team is responsible for pen testing resources and support for public-facing sites as well as high-value assets within the department.

The Penetration Tester will establish a pen testing program throughout CISA, perform hands-on penetration testing capabilities, and communicate recommended solutions for addressing findings from a pen test. This position is fully remote, except when needed for testing requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform penetration testing and develop best practices standards on tool usage.
  • Conduct penetration testing in the following disciplines: web application testing, network penetration testing, API and serverless penetration testing, and cloud-based penetration testing.
  • Candidate should be able to work safely within guidance to support penetration testing operations as part of a managed team.

We are seeking a candidate with detailed knowledge of web application and network-based penetration testing security tools. The ideal candidate will provide expert-level guidance to the customer regarding penetration testing and vulnerability assessment industry best practices.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8-12 years of pen testing experience.
  • Or 6 years of professional experience with a Master's degree.
  • Able to obtain a CISA EOD certification.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of professional experience in incident detection and response, malware analysis, or cyber forensics. They will also have experience establishing a pen testing program, completing hands-on penetration testing capabilities, and communicating recommended solutions for addressing findings from a pen test.

The salary range for this position is $104,650 - $189,175. Salary may vary based on factors such as location, responsibilities, and qualifications. Please note that pay ranges are general guidelines only and not guarantees of compensation or salary.
