Position: Project Engineer II
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Objective:
The primary function of the Project Engineer II role is to provide technical support to the project team in the areas of scheduling, project buyout, estimating, document control, and management of self-perform and subcontractors. Project sizes typically range from $25,000 to $10,000,000 USD and may include a combination of construction management, general contractor, and design/build type projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Control: Maintain and update document controls as needed, including pre-construction documents, submittals, RFIs/DCRs, punch lists, and closeout.
- Project Scheduling: Assist with project scheduling using Microsoft Project/Primavera.
- Project Buyout: Assist with project buyout.
- Project Startup: Assist with project startup.
- Contract Administration: Draft letters of intent, purchase orders, and master sub agreements as needed.
- Submittal Process: Own the project submittal process, including drafting submittal logs for PM review.
- Submittal Management: Process submittals from vendors and subs, maintain submittal logs throughout the project, and verify shop drawings.
- Communication: Communicate the status of submittals to the Project Manager and team.
- Estimating: Assist with estimating, including budgets, bulletins, and change request/field order quotations.
- Scope Coordination: Assist with the management of self-perform and subcontractor scope coordination with field supervision.
- Job Cost Tracking: Assist with job cost tracking and management.
- Project Closeout: Assist with project closeout.
- Customer Relationships: Maintain positive and open relationships with customers.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience: 2-4 years' experience and/or internship with a GC/CM organization.
- Skills: Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills are required. Ability to work in a team environment. Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office suite, FTP sites, and document control programs. Experience with SAGE, Procore, or Pro Log preferred.
- Travel: Travel may be required.
