As a Correctional Officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of our facilities and the public. This position requires a high level of integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Enforce institutional policies, rules, and regulations to maintain order and discipline within the facility.
- Conduct regular security checks and patrols to prevent disturbances and escapes.
- Escort offenders in transit and during temporary leaves, ensuring their safe transportation and supervision.
- Guard facility entrances to screen visitors and maintain the integrity of the facility.
- Train and handle canines for tracking, search and rescue, guard duty, and detection of contraband.
- Inspect, inventory, and maintain physical control of keys, tools, weapons, and related equipment.
- Prepare and submit reports on offender behavior, incidents, and other relevant information.
- Respond to emergencies and take offenders into custody as needed.
