Position Overview:
Tact Staff is currently seeking a skilled Mammography Travel Technologist for an exciting opportunity.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Conducts mammographic procedures on both inpatient and outpatient individuals in accordance with established departmental protocols.
  • Reviews each patient's prescription, history questionnaire, and medical records to ensure all necessary information is available for radiologist interpretation.
  • Executes radiologic examinations with a high degree of precision in positioning and technical factors.
  • Adheres to universal precautions and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Follows National Patient Safety Goals by obtaining a minimum of two patient identifiers for every patient.
  • Processes images using the PAC system and ensures timely completion and verification of cases.
  • Maintains daily cleanup of work lists and monitors the Exceptions List.
  • Utilizes the Breast reporting system (PenRad), EMR, and PACS systems effectively.
  • Loads external imaging and creates necessary orders, scanning reports into the PACS system for radiologist review.
  • Analyzes acquired images for proper positioning, markers, date stickers, and appropriate labels and patient identification.
  • Repeats images if any factors may compromise their diagnostic value.
  • Maintains a respectful and responsive relationship with patients, addressing their physical and psychological needs.
  • Clearly explains all procedures to patients, respecting cultural differences and utilizing translation services when necessary.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the assigned work area and radiographic equipment.
  • Communicates effectively with coordinators, supervisors, and vendors regarding equipment malfunctions.
  • Collaborates with Ultrasound departments to ensure a smooth patient flow.
  • Accurately performs bone density scans and reviews interventional cases with a solid understanding of procedures and protocols.
  • Assists with needle localizations and, if trained, stereotactic biopsies.
  • Practices the ALARA principle for radiation protection and performs quality assurance as per MQSA guidelines.
  • Participates in the orientation of new employees and acts as a preceptor for procedures when requested.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Capability to perform screening and diagnostic mammography is essential.
  • Experience with DEXA and biopsy procedures is preferred.

Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM (flexible)
