Job Summary

As a Certified Nursing Assistant - Patient Care Specialist at UNC Health Care, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in a hospital, clinic, or home health care setting. Under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, you will administer routine patient care and perform other duties necessary to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures.
  • Provide informal support therapy to patients and families.
  • Monitor the therapeutic milieu activities on assigned units to ensure emotional and safety needs of patients are met.
  • Collect and document patient information obtained while providing care.
  • Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Provide indirect care to patients and assigned areas, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and transporting patients and supplies.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an approved CNA I program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Six months of relevant nursing assistant experience.
