Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse at Covenant HealthCare is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leadership to our nursing staff. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities:
Contribute to the organization's success by meeting net operating margin targets
Participate in cost containment efforts through efficient use of supplies, services, and time management
Adhere to unit/department budgetary practices
Support patient flow efforts through compliance with unit and Patient Services policies
Remain flexible in cooperation with 24-hour staffing patterns and scheduling needs for provision of care in all inpatient units
Communicate with patients and families in a professional, therapeutic, and courteous manner
Perform assessment and synthesizes data collected by self and others in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on the patient's physiologic, psychologic, and cognitive status
Formulate and coordinate a goal-directed plan of care which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnoses and identified patient care concerns
Delegate, supervise, and implement care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of and adherence to standards which define the process
Collaborate effectively with all healthcare disciplines to facilitate patient outcomes, assess readiness for discharge, and anticipate discharge needs
Identify patient learning needs and their ability to follow through, including discharge instructions, while implementing appropriate measures to meet these needs
Exhibit nursing judgment and critical thinking abilities within the framework of the nursing process
Administer medications as outlined by Patient Service guidelines and policies
Document all patient care observations and interventions in the electronic record accurately, clearly, in a timely manner following all established policies
Actively participate in quality management
Update and maintain knowledge, skills, and competencies related to area of practice and ages of patient population
Demonstrate awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and unit function. Maintain patient rights and confidentiality, and actively support risk management activities
Participate in patient care and unit activities to achieve compliance with all regulatory, patient safety, infection control, and safety requirements
Participate in unit meetings and activities which support unit function and the overall goals of the organization

Requirements:
Graduation from NLN accredited school of nursing
Registered Nurse with current licensure in the State of Michigan
BLS certification required
Minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience preferred
Computer competency, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be able to work well with the public and able to be tactful in often hectic and stressful situations
Clinical nursing skills
Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
Constant standing and walking
Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs
Frequent sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, near vision, midrange vision, far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision, and field of vision
Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs
Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting
