Job Summary:

As a Clinical Therapist at Brown University Health, you will provide comprehensive clinical services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This includes the evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric and physical/environmental stressors using a full range of psychiatric therapeutic interventions, including evaluations and individual family and group psychotherapy. You will also report to the Clinical Director of Social Work and Counseling regarding professional standards, regulatory and licensing requirements, credentials/privileges, and continuing education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide emergency triage, evaluation, brief treatment, and clinical referrals to children, adolescents, and families through the Brown University Health Pediatric Behavioral Health Emergency Services (LPBHES) Department, a partnership between Bradley Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, and Gateway Healthcare.
• Conduct urgent and emergency triage (either by phone, virtually, or in-person) and conduct clinical assessments across Brown University Health emergency service sites, including Bradley Access, Hasbro emergency department, and Gateway community sites.
• Collaborate with other members of the Brown University Health PBHES Team and manage the disposition of cases seen through the KidsLink emergency service.
• Manage crisis intervention with patients and families awaiting inpatient admissions or assessed as a candidate for intensive outpatient care as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization.
• Complete all required documentation in a professional and timely manner as assigned.
• Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment, interventions, and recommendations as relevant.
• Participate in service-related meetings, including team meetings, rounds, clinical conferences, community meetings, staff meetings, and in-service.
• May participate in research or other specialized activities as arranged with supervisor.
• Attend Social Work and Counseling Department staff meetings and meet all related responsibilities.
• Demonstrate conduct which exemplifies the professional Code of Ethics.
• Attend supervision as required.
• May provide supervision of social work/counseling students as assigned.

Requirements:

• Masters degree in any human services field required, such as social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or psychology from an accredited graduate school.
• Current independent license from State of Rhode Island required (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT).
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
• Significant experience and/or training work with children, adolescents, and families.
