Critical Care Respiratory Therapist Position

Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized treatment plans for our patients.
Responsibilities- Provide safe and effective respiratory therapy modalities as ordered by physicians, developing individualized plans of care based on assessment data and standards of practice.
- Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment according to policy and procedure, ensuring optimal patient care.
- Administer medications safely and accurately, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Operate and maintain various respiratory equipment, including mechanical ventilators, BIPAP/CPAP systems, oxygen delivery devices, and oximeters.
- Perform tracheal, endotracheal, and nasopharyngeal suctioning, as well as draw and analyze blood gases by arterial stick, following established protocols.
- Interpret arterial blood gas and oximetry results, identifying potential issues and taking appropriate action.
- Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care program, with a current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
- Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Connecticut.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications desirable.
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) certification also preferred.
- Strong focus on customer service, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of respiratory care principles, practices, and equipment, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
