Job Overview:

As a Payroll Specialist II at CrossFire Group in Detroit, MI, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of our organization.

About the Position:

We are looking for a seasoned Payroll Specialist II to join our team, bringing a minimum of two years of related payroll experience. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of payroll systems, including PeopleSoft and Kronos, and be able to perform online edits and corrections with precision and speed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform online edits and corrections to the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Communicate with programmers and participate in testing of pay issues.
  • Calculate special check requests and audits requests by departments and HR.
  • Process internal adjustments for employees when necessary, analyzing past payroll information and calculating the proper amount of adjustment.
  • Perform complex corrections of the exception time report edits, analyzing errors and making advanced online corrections in the PeopleSoft system.
  • Review and validate Kronos schedules and timekeeping duties, adhering to payroll guidelines, policies, and procedures. Contact department supervisors and management for timecard discrepancies.
  • Answer complex questions via phone inquiries from HFH employees, timekeepers, management personnel, and Human Resources for union, nonunion, hourly, and salary employees, including executives and physicians.
  • Communicate with employees and management regarding questions and concerns related to paychecks and related calculations.
  • Process garnishment checks and mail checks with legal statements of HFH's financial responsibility regarding garnishment to requestors such as Friend-of-the-Court, Attorneys, or IRS.
  • Prepare stop payment and voided checks in a timely manner for reversal and reissue.
  • Process deductions from employee paychecks, including union dues, pharmacy, vendor sales, and Gold Coast.
  • Calculate incorrect payments and process necessary adjustments to recover overpayment amounts from employees' paychecks.
  • Select, interpret, and apply proper codes, rules, and regulations related to payroll transactions in the PeopleSoft system.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Analyst and Accounting team to ensure accurate allocations to the general ledger.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information securely and discreetly.
  • Able to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and available for overtime as needed.
