Job Title: Lead Histotechnologist

Exact Sciences is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Histotechnologist to join our team. As a key member of our histology laboratory, you will be responsible for performing complex histology procedures, supervising laboratory staff, and ensuring the highest quality of test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform complex histology procedures, including sectioning and H&E staining, and execute IHC assays with appropriate controls.
  • Supervise laboratory staff, assess their competency, and evaluate new equipment.
  • Prepare department for CAP inspections, participate as an inspector, and stay knowledgeable of the CAP Anatomic Checklist.
  • Write and review standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintain stringent standards for quality, and identify any issues that might adversely impact test results or employee safety.
  • Monitor and process the histology queue, perform microdissection of unstained slides, and prepare reagents, solutions, and controls.
  • Interact with pathologists, laboratory staff, and external customers to ensure specimens are processed in a timely manner with high quality.
  • Participate in and process specimens for clinical, R&D, and process improvement studies, including development and validation of new IHC assays and protocols.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in a scientific field, 8+ years of laboratory experience, or Bachelor Degree in a scientific field, 6+ years of laboratory experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • HT(ASCP) or HLT(ASCP) certification.
  • Possession of active QIHC (Qualification in Immunohistochemistry) through the ASCP Board of Certification.
