Procurement Specialist

The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the purchasing process for designated sectors, ensuring the effective management of purchase orders and agreements. This position employs strategies aimed at achieving the optimal balance of quality, service, and overall cost for the organization. Additionally, the Specialist is responsible for maintaining the database within the Materials Management Information System.
REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's Degree is mandatory, while a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in procurement is essential, with at least two (2) years at a senior purchasing level.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead meetings, effectively manage teams, analyze data, utilize quantitative analysis tools, negotiate with vendors, and oversee contracts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is necessary, along with advanced skills in Excel.

- The role may involve both indoor and outdoor work under standard conditions. The individual should be capable of lifting or moving up to 35 lbs, performing tasks that require fine motor skills such as typing and filing for extended periods, and executing tasks that necessitate hand-eye coordination like data entry and operating copiers. Mobility may include remaining stationary at a workstation for extended durations, as well as the ability to squat or move for reasonable distances. Communication abilities include comprehending spoken English and effectively reading and communicating in English.
• Manage essential processes including purchase orders, requisitions, equipment, bids, and quotes to secure necessary resources for operational support.
• Lead negotiations for assigned procurement areas.
• Oversee purchasing and value analysis projects from initiation to completion.
• Request competitive quotations as required by industry standards or organizational policy.
• Gather and analyze data from various sources to ensure compliance with diverse purchasing policies and procedures.
• Present buying options to management, supported by data regarding competitive bids and new group contracts.
• Monitor vendor performance by collaborating with supplier representatives on specifications, costs, inspections, and related issues.
• Evaluate supplier quality and manage supplier development initiatives.
• Identify potential vendors for bidding or negotiation processes.
• Maintain the Materials Management Information System database, ensuring information is current and accurate, and generate productivity and quality reports.
• Address inquiries from various internal and external sources to provide information and guidance.
• Communicate procurement procedures and contractual requirements to relevant departments and staff.
• Collaborate with end users to resolve issues and suggest improvements to management.
• Facilitate procurement-related meetings for assigned areas.
• Lead the Value Analysis Team as assigned.
• Coordinate capital budget activities.
• Supervise the work of Purchasing Associates, providing performance coaching and feedback.
• Develop and maintain procurement strategies, propose new initiatives, enhance procurement processes, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Analyze business metrics to identify procurement trends within the industry and organization.
• Assist in training new employees on responsibilities and departmental policies and procedures.

Salary Range: $ /hour Compensation is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be compensated within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
