Job Summary

ECS Limited is seeking a highly skilled Structural Steel Inspector to join our team in West Palm Beach. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing field observations and inspections, as well as conducting destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) on structural steel and other construction materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform observations, testing, and inspections of various construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel placement.
  • Conduct routine observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, using various methodologies and testing equipment.
  • Collect and analyze data from sampling, test results, and inspections, and engage in drafting and other administrative duties as required.
  • Maintain daily communication with site contractors, other technicians, and project managers, and attend project meetings as requested.
  • Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing, and document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have and be willing to maintain at least 2 specialty certifications from industry authorities.
  • Position requires carrying 40-70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Must provide suitable transportation for use on job sites.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Sound working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles, applications, and testing standards.
  • Excellent understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform work at heights.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops.
  • Functional ability to read and interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office.
